PALM BEACH COUNTY SEMINOLE BATTLEFIELD REMEMBERED
Florida history comes alive at a free event on Sunday, January 15, with “We R Florida,” the Seminole Maroon commemoration of the 179th anniversary of the Battle of Loxahatchee at Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park, 9060 Indiantown Road in Jupiter. The event opens at 10:00 a.m. with a Native American Blessing ceremony, conducted by Carib Indian Tribal Queen and spiritual leader, Mrs. Catherine Hummingbird Ramirez. This event is presented in coordination with Palm Beach County Parks Department by the Florida Black Historical Research Project, Inc. and Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists, both not-for-profit organizations based in South Florida. Admission is free and open to the public.
