04 Boating Safely - In-Person Course
Boating Safely - In-Person Course2023-03-04T08:00:00Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $10 to register; refunded when class is completed
The River Center continues to collaborate with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flotilla 52” to provide a series of Boating Safely Classes targeted specifically to young boaters in our community. These classes are provided through a generous sponsorship by the AustinBlu Foundation, a not-for-profit dedicated to raising awareness and promoting educational programs to improve boater safety. There is no cost for this class, however there is a deposit required to reserve a seat. The deposit of $10 will be refunded in full to all students who complete the class.
Recommended for children 12 years and up, but all ages are welcome.

Whether police officers are fighting crimes or building safer neighborhoods, their relationships with children are critically important. Your child will have the opportunity to meet police officers as well as check out their equipment and a police cruiser. A snack will be provided. This program is free however a RSVP is required. The Jupiter Police are hosting Hidden in Plain Sight a presentation by Living Skills In the Schools LSIS .
Hidden In Plain Sight is a program intended to enlighten parents of teens and provide support for risky behavior. This is an interactive program, with a mock teenage bedroom to help recognize warning signs.
??This program is strictly for parents and caregivers only. No children allowed!

On select Saturdays from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, join our Scientist Sam for different science and nature based activities for students aged 6 -12 . Activities will include wildlife encounters, garden exploration, science experiments, and more!
Each month has different themed classes!
In this lesson students will learn about bioelectricity, understanding that all living organisms give off electricity- that some creatures can detect. Students will conduct electricity experiments and a bioelectricity activity.

Roots & Ruts Off-Road 5K Run/Walk
Roots & Ruts Off-Road 5K Run/Walk2023-03-25T08:15:00The 4th annual Roots & Ruts Off-Road 5K benefiting Els for Autism®, features a course through the North Jupiter Flatwoods Natural Area, a 160-acre natural area preserves comprised of mesic flatwoods, wet flatwoods, depression marsh, and dome swamp ecosystems. Racers will encounter multiple ground surfaces throughout the race, such as pavement, gravel, sand, grass, as well as roots and ruts, so we encourage each runner/walker to be cautious and aware of their path during the race.
The Sensory-Friendly Obstacle Course was perfect for children, families, and non-competitive runners. This course will feature obstacles that involve jumping, balancing, water, crawling, and more.

In this lesson students will learn about what seagrasses are, why they are important, and common threats to seagrass beds. This lesson will be off-site, and students must be prepared to be outside and get wet. Water-shoes, hat, and sunscreen are required.

The Women’s Auxiliary is a local part of a world-wide movement that functions as a fundraising & volunteer service group.
