Functional fitness is a type of strength training class that trains the body for real life movement and activities. This class incorporates range of motion, flexibility, strength and balance movements. By mirroring the movements of your daily life, like squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting, it will increase your quality of life and reduce your risk of injury. Designed for all levels-ages 55 and over. Modifications will be offered. Bring your own weights and exercise mat.

Classes combine relaxation, flexibility, balance and breath awareness. Stretch and tone your body while relaxing your mind and energizing your spirit, Ideal for those concerned with injuries. Instructor: Nicole Leavell

Blowing Rocks Preserve will open early to pre-registered artists for the exclusive opportunity to capture the beauty of this nature sanctuary’s landscape at sunrise. Advance registration is required, and the cost is $20.00 per person. Photo shoots and drones are prohibited. You will need to bring a flashlight or battery-operated light source to find your way and get set-up. Please note only lights with red filters or bulbs are allowed on the beach during sea turtle nesting season which runs through October 31. Check in will be from 6:00 to 6:30 am. Any participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult participant. Space is limited to a maximum of 18 attendees. Register at nature.org/events
