The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Since 1974, the CDBG program has been one of the longest continuously run programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The CDBG program provides annual grants on a formula basis to State and local government. The Town of Jupiter has participated in the CDBG Program since 2012. CDBG funds have been used to renovate Officer Bruce St. Laurent Park in Pine Gardens South, athletic scholarships through the JTAA, roofs for low income homeowners, street safety, and for upgrades to the water distribution and drainage systems in the Charter neighborhoods. Currently, CDBG funds are utilized to address drainage issues on North Pennock Lane and renovate Daily Park. The Town receives approximately $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds annually. Public meetings are held every year to obtain resident input on community development needs, current CDBG projects, and potential CDBG projects and programs. Entitlement communities are required to hold the meetings at least twice a year (per 24 CFR 570.431). Town of Jupiter will host two public meetings on March 5 at 11 and 5:00 in the Police Department Community Room. The presentation is the same at both times. CCI 2026 Lecture Series: Learning the 3 R’s of Eastern Indigo Snake Recovery2026-03-11T09:30:00Learn more about the eastern indigo breeding program and how you can support major milestones!
The longest snake native to the United States, the non-venomous eastern indigo snake can grow up to 8.5 feet long. Eastern indigo snakes used to roam widely across North Florida but by the mid-1980s they were essentially gone from the landscape, in part due to habitat loss and fragmentation, and were designated as a federally threatened species. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) recognized an opportunity to join in the effort to bring the snake back to its historic range and bring balance to the ecosystem. Decades of work culminated in releasing the first group of 2-year-old indigo snakes in 2017. Additional snakes are released each year as TNC and partners work to establish a self-sustaining population.

CCI 2026 Lecture Series: Florida’s Water: Exploring Our Aquatic Heritage and Future2026-03-25T09:30:00WATER. The Florida “way of life” depends on it - economically, ecologically, and for quality of life. Water is the connector of Florida’s unique and productive ecosystems and of the residents and visitors who benefit from the Florida environment. All that we do on land affects our waters - from uplands to freshwater wetlands, streams, rivers, lakes, aquifers, springs to brackish rivers, tidal creeks, coastal marsh, mangrove forests, estuaries, coral reefs and offshore environments. Despite significant investments in improving water quality and hydrology, many of our freshwater habitats and estuary habitats continue to decline. So, what can we do? Join us to explore opportunities to harness the benefits of innovative approaches while maximizing solutions to improve the condition and function of this valuable resource, in addition to discussing the challenges that must be overcome.
