Campaign Treasurer Reports
At the June 21, 2022 Town Council Meeting, Ordinance 6-22 was adopted, requiring all Town election candidates to file their Campaign Treasurer Reports electronically. Deadlines and Penalties
All Campaign Treasurer’s Reports are due by 5:00 p.m. on the due date, or must be postmarked by midnight of the due date to avoid having a fine levied against the candidate. A fine of $50 per day can be imposed for the first three (3) days; on the fourth (4th) day, $500 shall be imposed, pursuant to F. S. 106.07.
Disposal of Campaign Funds
Any candidate who withdraws their candidacy becomes unopposed is eliminated, or is elected to office shall, within 90 days, dispose of funds on deposit in his/her campaign account and file a TR Report reflecting the disposition of all remaining funds, pursuant to F.S. 106.141.
Please note: All reports required of a candidate shall be filed with the officer before whom the candidate is required by law to qualify. The Town Clerk is the qualifying officer for candidates who wish to contend for the office of Town of Jupiter Town Council. (Section 106.07 (2) (a) 1.FS)
A candidate, his or her campaign treasurer, or the political committee chair and campaign treasurer of the political committee shall certify as to the correctness of each report, and each person so certifying shall bear the responsibility for the accuracy and veracity of each report (F.S 106.07(5). Chapter 106, Campaign Finance, Florida Statutes governs campaign reporting activities.
CAMPAIGN RECORDS ARE PUBLIC RECORD (Fla. Stat. § 119). Once the Town Clerk/Filing Officer receives your report it becomes a public record. It may be posted on our website and will be available for inspection. The function of the Town Clerk/Filing Officer regarding your campaign reports is ministerial only. Errors in reporting, like other campaign violations, are the province of the Florida Election Commission.
