TOWN OF JUPITER COMPREHENSIVE VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT
Evaluating current and future flood risks having the potential to impact people, property, critical infrastructure, and essential public services within Our Town
As a coastal community, the Town of Jupiter faces increasing challenges with stormwater and flooding. To address challenges and proactively manage flood risks, the Town of Jupiter completed a Comprehensive Vulnerability Assessment in 2025 that evaluated current and future flood risks. The Final Report was submitted and accepted by Florida Department of Environmental Protection in December 2025.
The results of the Vulnerability Assessment will be presented at a public meeting at Town Hall on February 17, 2026, at 5:30 pm, followed by a presentation to the Town Council.
Final Report
This data-driven assessment evaluates both current and future flood risks from multiple drivers—including sea level rise, storm surge, groundwater conditions, and extreme rainfall—using best-available data and methodologies from FDEP, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the South Florida Water Management District, and NOAA across 31 modeled scenarios.
The assessment identifies potential impacts on residents, property, critical infrastructure, and essential public services, with findings indicating increasing risk over time—particularly in low-lying, flood-prone areas where multiple flooding mechanisms intersect. Eleven priority focus areas were identified based on flood risk, asset density, and community and economic importance. Together, these findings provide a strong technical foundation to guide capital improvement planning, pursue grant funding opportunities, inform policy updates, and support the Town of Jupiter’s long-term resilience and adaptation efforts.
